The Illinois Central College (ICC) Hard Bop Jazz Band is the guest group for our March program. This outstanding 18-piece jazz big band is directed by Larry Harms. In recent years, the ICC band has won several honors at college jazz festivals. This year’s band features CIJS House Band member Joey Miller on drums, Danny Greuter on guitar, Mark Sherman on tenor sax, Connor King on trumpet and Patrick Hart on trombone. Also, Gregg Clemons will sing with the group on a few selections. Gregg has recorded for CBS Records as a singer-songwriter, and sang and played with Ted Nugent in 1975. He has recorded with other name musicians and performed with local bands. Even though the band focuses on jazz from the 50’s to the present, they also perform jazz from most style periods. They will present “Jeannine” by Duke Pearson, “The Letter”, the Joe Cocker version, “Tailspin” by Herbie Hancock, “Land Line” by Lennie Niehaus and “The Bari Thought of You” featuring Jeff Arbisi on baritone saxophone. The Jazz Society program is one of several that the band will present this spring. They also will perform at the following events in the area during April.

The Central Illinois Jazz Society (CIJS) House Band will play during the first set, under the leadership of Larry Harms. The CIJS House Band features outstanding jazz musicians from the area. They will entertain you with a mixture of jazz styles. This talented group is the heart of our monthly jazz program for the jazz fans of Central Illinois. They will present a variety of live jazz offerings. Please come out and support them.

Admission:  $5.00 Members     $7.00 Non-Members
Children 14 years and under are free with an adult
