The Illinois Central Jazz Train, directed by Larry Harms, is the newest performing group-in-residence at Illinois Central College, where they present two concerts per year. The Jazz Train was formed in August of 2004 and includes some of the finest young and seasoned jazz musicians in Central Illinois. They have performed for the Ameren CILCO Summer Serenades in Peoria and Springfield, as well as joint concerts with Adam Larson in the spring the last two years. They will perform “Too Little Too Late”, the Oscar-winning love theme by Henry Mancini from The Glenn Miller Story. This song will feature Doug Wilcox on trombone. Jeremy Clark, will also make his debut as the new drummer for the Jazz Train. They will present a wide range of music styles. The Jazz Train has been a Guest Group for Jazz Society programs since 2006. If you have heard them before, they will have a selection of all new material that you will enjoy. They have a big band sound with an extra kick. You’ll want to be sure to catch this very talented group.
The Central Illinois Jazz Society (CIJS) House Band will play during the first set, under the leadership of Larry Harms. The CIJS House Band features outstanding jazz musicians from the area. They will entertain you with a mixture of jazz styles. This talented group is the heart of our monthly jazz program for the jazz fans of Central Illinois. They will present a variety of live jazz offerings. Please come out and support them.
Admission: $5.00 Members $7.00 Non-Members Children 14 years and under are free with an adult
