Glenn Wilson is considered one of the top baritone saxophonists in jazz today. He has recorded 6 solo albums and has appeared on scores of others as a sideman. Glenn has been awarded a grant by the National Endowment for the Arts and his CDs are featured in the Grammaphone Guide to Good Jazz and The Penguin Guide to Jazz. Glenn has also recorded and toured with rock pianist Bruce Hornsby. During his years in New York City (1977-1991), Glenn toured and recorded with Buddy Rich, Lionel Hampton, Machito, Tito Puente, The Bill Kirchner Nonet, Mel Lewis, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and The Bob Belden Ensemble. From 1991-2001, Glenn lived in Richmond, Virginia. He is currently a resident of Central Illinois. He continues to record for Sunnyside and tours regularly with his group, The Jazzmaniacs. Glenn is a Visiting Lecturer in Jazz at the University of Illinois - Urbana. Visit Glenn at www.jazzmaniac.com.

Glenn will be joined by the other Jazzmaniacs - Chip Stephens - piano, Richard Drexler - bass, and Brent Jotdan - drums. Chip is professor of jazz piano at the University of Illinois and has a very busy recording and performing career. Richard is a bassist and pianist, who has been in Florida since 1985. He is an adjunct faculty member in the jazz department of the University of Central Florida in Orlando and has his own private teaching studio. Brent is a recent DMA graduate from the U of I.

The Central Illinois Jazz Society (CIJS) House Band will play during the first set, under the leadership of Larry Harms. The CIJS House Band features outstanding jazz musicians from the area. They will entertain you with a mixture of jazz styles. This talented group is the heart of our monthly jazz program for the jazz fans of Central Illinois. They will present a variety of live jazz offerings. Please come out and support them.

Admission:  $5.00 Members     $7.00 Non-Members
Children 14 years and under are free with an adult
