ron wallace, welcome, citislicker
Welcome to Peoria.CitiSlicker.com! This new social site is born of a dream. One that, for almost 20 years, has occupied a substantial and permanent space in my soul. It's a process, a concept, an adventure, a tool that I wish I had available to me over the past 39 years to promote and grow my businesses and community involvement.
The hardest, yet most important and unfortunately the most expensive, thing that any small business person or community organizer needs to bring success to his or her project is marketing and communication. No matter how perfect or how great a product or service is without customers or clients you have nothing. And for you, as a customer, you may be missing out on some of the most valuable and important inventions the world has to offer.
The purpose of Peoria.CitiSlicker.com is to bring neighbors together to reach our highest potential in commerce and citizenship. I've tried dozens of times in dozens of ways to implement this project but have failed due to technological shortcomings. I've invested more dollars and hours than I wish to admit, but in every instance, until now, have lacked the proper pieces to bring my dream beyond hope. Today, better than five serious years in development and planning, I'm very happy to welcome you to what I hope can be a rewarding and beneficial experiences for all. For me, it is a dream come true.
Peoria.CitiSlicker.com empowers "you" to be "you". If you run a business, this is your opportunity to share all that you have to offer. If you are involved in a social organization, this is your opportunity to share and help us care. Maybe you are involved in a neighborhood association or school or church, this is your opportunity to share and grow. As a Peoria citizen, wanting to make new friends, find things to do or places to go; this is your opportunity to share, learn, teach, and commune.
I encourage "you" to be "you". I lead by example. My writings are not fancy. My thoughts are not perfect. I'm only "me".
You may ask, "Why do we need another website in Peoria? We've got the TV stations, radio stations, newspapers, Peoria.com, ExplorePeoria.com, SearchPeoria.com, Peoria Facebook and on and on and on. Peoria.CitiSlicker.com is yours. It's your opportunity to spread your wings. Our purpose is not to compete but to enhance. We will often refer you to these sites and share their ideas, ideals and concepts. Peoria.CitiSlicker.com is a clearinghouse for all things "Peoria."
You may ask, " Why do we need another social site?" We've got Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Linkedin, Twitter. We do not compete, we interface. And these are international services that and not able to serve smaller communities effectively. Our purpose is one -- Peoria, Illinois. I hope, over time you will know bigger is not better and that you will choose Peoria.CitiSlicker.com as your front door to your social networking experience.
For a bit more technical discussion, although be it boring to those of you that don't get off on the academic edge of media and marketing, read ahead in a future blog for my opinion. I think you'll realize my vision for CitiSlicker makes sense.
Welcome to Peoria.CitiSlicker.com. Visit often, the fun is just beginning.
Have a wonderful day,

OK, it's August and we're still not open. Since my last report 60 days ago, we've made quite a number mods and fixes. I've decided to wait just a little while longer. There's one more major update I want to install before going live. It will buy us a much longer term before having to do yet another update. I have grand hopes that I'll have all the tools to get the job done still this week and work toward a warm launch sometime in September. At least that's my current goal. As I said, my fingers are crossed.

Hmm, 111 days have passed since I posted my last status report. Boy, how time flies. I made a decision to establish a number of marketing methods before opening the doors here. They are now done. And I've added one more major upgrade to our system. I "think" we are now ready to roll. If all goes well, once this current holiday season passes, I expect I'll then do a soft launch to a few friends and associates. Then, depending on how all that turns out, open the doors to the rest of the world. No promises., but I do fee we are as close as we've ever been.

Still not open for public. Funny how things go. We had an unreal online holiday season, and although we prepared for a slowdown, it never came. We've kept busy up and through today, Feb 26, with no time to work on other projects, like this here CitiSlicker. So, here we are, still not open. But I have this feeling it's coming soon. I'd bet on it.

April 15, oh my!! Just installed what I hope is the very very very last update to CitiSlicker, and with a little luck, I'll finish up loading files to the Greater Peoria Sport Hall of Fame. And presto - then we'll open. I've got my fingers and toes crossed that it will be this weekend.

May 24, 2011. I decided to do a quick remodel before opening. I'm done and doing the final tests. I know I've said this before, but I feel we're close, really close.

July 28, 2011. Well, I guess my idea of a quick remodel in May didn't work out. I took it too far and did a whole rewrite. Couldn't help myself. What you are seeing now isn't even close to my original design in May. But hey, who cares. I'm happy and I'm opening our doors. Today CitiSlicker is born!!!!

Master upgrade today. A number of behind the scenes fixes and security enhancements. CitiSlicker is a work in process, never a boring moment.

We've been open now for about a month. Things were moving along smoothly, until our host had a misconfiguration a few days ago that caused not only this site but all of our sites to crash. Took them 24 hours to fix, and then another 48 hours to figure out why our cyberworld has blown up around us. To make a very long and hair-graying experience short, all is fixed (fingers crossed) and we are back in business. Ain't technology fun? Not!

New upgrade today. Fixed some little bugs, added a few behind the scenes things, and lessened the number of obvious options for non-logged in users. We're wishing lurkers become users.

October 2009 I had sincere hopes of launching CitiSlicker. Really, I did! I found it of value to wait a little longer to add a few more features and fix a few bugs -- which, by the way, will be an ongoing work-in-progress, forever, at least for me, however long forever will be.
I always say, "anything worth doing is worth doing right" so I felt a few more days wouldn't hurt too much. OK, so it turned out to be a few more months, 3 quarters of a year; but I'm glad I waited. We've been able to increase speed substanially and cleaned up quite a number of little issues.
Recently, I began loading files for a couple of my favorite groups - Central Illinois Jazz Society and Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame. I hope to put an intial face to these organizations in the next few days -- then I'll open the doors - slowly, but surely -- and start spreading the word.
I admit, my fingers are crossed.
